I’ve always loved to share a beautiful picture book with my children a soothing bedtime ritual or a few minutes downtime in an afternoon with an energetic toddler.
This is my current favourite picture book.
It has all the elements of a beautiful to share picture book, with it’s gorgeous illustrations, repetition and rhyme.
It has cute sleepy animals in the meadow, farm, jungle and town and a dad who is doing all he can to get his little one to sleep.
“The cats nestle close to the kittens,
The lambs have lain down with the sheep.
You’re cozy and warm in your bed my dear.
Please go the fuck to sleep”
I challenge any sleep deprived parent not to laugh out loud at this book!
As a mum of three I can so empathise with this book and it is so validating to hear my own internal monologue on the page. Parenting can be a really difficult task we need all the laughs we can get! Great gift for any parent of little ones.
*you probably should not read it to your children though.
